Designing a Happy Life: Tips and Strategies

In 2016-2017 I’ve experienced a total burnout. I mean a full-on mental breakdown. I wasn’t eating properly, not sleeping well and indulging in things that are just totally destructive to the mind and body. When you become a slave to the hustle n grind you ultimately pay the price. Since then I have developed some tricks and hacks that have helped me to lead a more fulfilling life.

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel lost and unfulfilled. However, designing a happier and more fulfilling life is possible with the right mindset, tools, and strategies. I would like to share some of the actionable tips and strategies that have helped me and may be able to help you create a life that brings you joy, fulfillment, and meaning.

Identify Your Values and Priorities

To design a happier and more fulfilling life, you need to start by identifying your values and priorities. What matters most to you? What do you want to achieve in life? Take some time to reflect on these questions and write down your answers. Once you have a clear understanding of your values and priorities, you can start aligning your actions and decisions with them.

Set Goals and Create a Plan

Setting goals and creating a plan is essential to designing a fulfilling life. Without clear goals and a plan, it's easy to get stuck in a rut and feel aimless. Start by setting SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound) goals that align with your values and priorities. Then, create a plan that outlines the steps you need to take to achieve those goals.

Practice Gratitude and Mindfulness

Practicing gratitude and mindfulness can help you cultivate a more positive and fulfilling mindset. Take time each day to reflect on the things you're grateful for and focus on the present moment. Mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing, and yoga can help you reduce stress and increase happiness.

Cultivate Positive Relationships

Having positive relationships with others is essential to designing a happier and more fulfilling life. Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you, and make an effort to build meaningful connections. Take time to connect with loved ones, join social groups or clubs that interest you, and give back to your community.

Take Care of Your Health and Well-Being

Taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional health is crucial to designing a fulfilling life. Make sure to prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, and practicing relaxation techniques. Seek professional help if you're struggling with mental health issues or chronic health conditions.

Do Things That Make You Happy

It’s ok to watch tv, it is ok to nap during the day, it is ok to just do nothing on the weekend, it is ok to break plans and spend time alone. Don’t let anyone guilt trip you into thinking otherwise. As long as everything is done in moderation and respect, do it. Sometimes doing nothing is everything you need. Listen to your body and mind.

I know it sounds like a bunch of bullshit. I know it looks like something you have read a million times over but the truth is, this bullshit works. It may take some time and effort to see a tangible difference, but it's worth giving it a try for at least 60 days.

It's understandable to be skeptical, but consistency is key in this process. Trust the process and adjust it as you go to fit your personal goals and lifestyle. With patience and dedication, you can create the fulfilling life you desire.
